Descriptive Analysis in Village Hospital Utilization during the 14th Busan Asian Games

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the pattern of patients who visited village hospital during the 14th Busan Asian Games and to provide basic data and useful information for the development of comprehensive and systematic care to athletes.

Method: We analysed the status of medical care utilization by nation, department, disease nature, etc.

Results: The frequent nationalities of patients visiting village hospital were Korea, Pakistan, Mongolia, Afghanistan and India. In the order of frequency of athletes visiting village hospital per participator were Afghanistan, Jordan, Bhutan, Laos and Tadzhikistan. The departments which the athletes frequently visited were Ophthalmology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dental Clinic, Orthopedic Surgery and Emergency Medicine. The most common cause of athletes visiting was myofascial pain syndrome, and the second cause was musculoskeletal injury.

Conclusion: We present basic data for village hospital utilization. We expect that these data should be useful information for development of comprehensive and systemic care. We also emphasize the need of material and manpower resources of departments which related with musculoskeletal diseases or injuries in village hospital.
